As Director of Art & Marketing:

2014-current

With this position, I was able to build up my skills in both marketing and brand management. During this time I have accomplished an increase in engagement with our social media, earned awards for my effective print advertising with various trade publications, redesigned the print collateral to create a more cohesive brand and improved the website’s useability.

My goal during this position was to evolve the company brand toward a clear message that would set us apart from the competitors while staying true to the company's roots. I was able to drive that goal through advertising, visual elements, and consistent messaging throughout all aspects of the marketing strategies.

As Visual/UI Designer:

2013-2014

In my position at a small tech design and communications agency, I was able to learn the ins and outs of UX Design (User Experience Design) and creating pixel-perfect designs for the web and digital applications. I primarily worked on Fortune 50 Corporate Intranets, which was all confidential work.

As a part of a collaborative UX team, we were able to translate the needs of the client, user research and testing, and common best practices to create functional and beautiful designs. As the visual designer I was the visual lead and guided the design aesthetic of each project. This included integrated color schemes, illustrations, iconography, and presentation design.

As a graphic Designer for a PR agency:

2012-2013

I got the opportunity to work one-on-one with clients to achieve various graphic design needs with each account. Myself and a team of writers, photographers and account managers were able to accomplish large goals within tight deadlines. I also had the opportuntity to write for the agency's blog. And when I was promoted to Art Director, I was able to mentor new designers as well as manage and facilitate creative services meetings and oversee all client accounts with creative needs.

As a Layout Designer:

2011-2012

Working within the fast-paced hectic environment of a weekly publication bolstered my speed and technical capabilities as well as level-headedness under pressure. Working with dedicated journalists and the passion of an award-winning student newspaper made it so I have a greater appreciation and knowledge of writing, news and editorial design. Experience working in their ad department improved my skills in advertising design and copywriting. Being an illustrator for the Opinion section gave me a way to build upon my illustration abilities. And greater so, being in a managerial position when promoted to Art Director gave me the responsibilty and opportunity to guide designers to create amazing designs.

I earned several awards during my time at The Orion, including Best Features Page and Best Infographic at the CCMA awards.
